IVECO EUROTECH 400E 340
Tractor Unit with Articulated Trailer fully laden to 38 tons Gross Vehicle Weight

Test Track: Worminghall Airfield, Oxfordshire.
Vehicle fitted with Tyron wheel safety bands.

The following tests were just some of those completed on their full range of vehicles prior to Iveco approving Tyron as a general accessory. The front offside tyre was 'blown' at 65mph, then the vehicle completed straight line stability, cornering, slalom, lane-changing and emergency stop trials. Driver control and stability was maintained throughout. The trials also required the vehicle to complete sharp U-turns and reversing manoeuvres without the tyre being dislodged from the wheel or touching mudguards, bodywork or suspension components. These tests were also completed successfully. No wheel damage occurred throughout all tests.

Official test report

IVECO SUPER CARGO
Fully Laden 16 tones.

Test Track: Driving Standards Agency (DSA), Bedfordshire. 31st March 1999.
Vehicle fitted with Tyron Extended Runflat System 'Standard' system.

Exploding the front offside tyre at 60 mph, the driver was able to demonstrate total control through a 45 mph left hand bend, tight left and right cornering and two emergency stops. On completion of the demonstration, spectators were invited to drive the course and a total distance of approximately 8km (5 miles) was completed. In each case the individual driver reported that although they were aware of driving on a 'flat' tyre, general handling and control was easily maintained. Despite a 75mm (3") hole in the sidewall of the tyre, as a result of the explosion, the tyre suffered no other significant damage. The wheel remained undamaged.
